the number of chords is practically endless.

Theres the standard C,G,A,D etc.

But there's also major chords, minor chords, seven chords, suspended chords, 5 chords (power chords), diminished chords, and triads.

But the notes are always A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G#

Notes stay the same no matter where they are played. The only thing that changes is the pitch. You may think that because a guitar has 21 frets and 6 strings, it has 126 notes, when it really has 126 pitches, no matter what there will always be twelve notes.

There are many many ways you can play chords. All up and down the neck, in many positions. To be honest, I don't believe anyone knows the total amount of chords. Notes, if playing one string, would be limited on the amount of frets and strings that you have.

Way too many. There's not just the normal chords like G and C, there are bar chords, too. And there is a note for every string in every fret.

those are arpeggios and they correspond with the key that is being played. like if they are playing in the key of c, youd have 2 find the notes which correspond which would be c,e, g and youll know: let your ears do the testing on wat sounds best. thanks. (:
