I took a HPT this morning and after about 5 minutes the test was positive but it was a very light line.(I'm using the hcg urine cassettes where you pee in a container and use a bulb to suck it up and drop a few drops into the test-they are like the ones the lab uses when you go in to have a urine pregnancy test.) I took two more tests this afternoon (I held my urine for 8 hours so it would be concentrated) and they both came back postive, but faint again, after about 5 minutes. I was suppose to get my period around 12/25 and didn't get it. I have been very fatigued lately and somewhat nauseous. I know a positive is a positive but I am afraid this could be a chemical pregnancy since I have experienced a chemical pregnancy once before. Anyone have experience with faint positives that turned out to be a healthy pregnancy? Should I be worried, shouldn't the line have been darker when I took the one this afternoon do to the level of hcg rising in my system?

It is possible that you just don't have a high level of hcg in your urine. Some women never react to urine preg tests at all so this could be your case, just in the way that you don't hold a high level of hcg in your urine. If you were suppose to get your period around 12/25...that puts you at the six week mark and most women get a positive urine test by this date, even though it may be faint (just like yours). If the line is there you are pregnant and have a just as good of a chance carrying your baby to full term as someone with a very dark positive. Good luck with everything, I wish you the best.

hi
your pregnant a faint line with colour is a possitive.
and no it probably wouldnt be any darker taking it later the same day no matter how long you held on to your bladder content.
your hcg doubles every 2 days early in pregnancy so take a test in a few days.
if you still unsure go 2 ya doctors office and get a hgc done only take one day to come back and you will know for sure :)
also a chemical pregnancy is almost allwatys lost before the 5th week as it has nothing to hold it into the uterus. so its a really good chance that you are going to have a r4eally healthy baby this time sorry for your previous loss i know this is hard at what ever stage your future baby was weather grown or not

im a mum to a 20mth girl born 04.05.05
im also a mum to a angel baby girl born 14.08.06 (at 20 weeks old)
and now i am 15.2 weeks pregnant :)

good luck everything will turn out fine tont stress as babys dont like that.
relax and cherish being pregnant and loveing that little baby inside of you. :)

the line shouldnt be darker in the afternoon, HCG is always more present in the morning, hence why people always say test with first morning urine since its got the most concentrated HCG in the urine. a faint positive usually still means positive, again you might just not have enough HCG yet, especially since your missed period was only a week ago. usually you wait 2 weeks after to test. i dunno what a chem. pregnancy is, but from what i do know you are pregnant! congrats! if your still worried take another test in 3-5 days, the line should be darker by then!

Yes, I had a very faint positive. Since your period was the 25th of December it is very possible your hcg is very low. However, I would suggest going to the doctors and getting a blood test. It can take a few days to even a week to have a stronger pregnancy test. Don't worry, go to the doctor. It is still very likely you a pregnant. Don't take any others word but a doctor. You should take it as you are always pregnant and take your prenatals and go to the doctor. Good luck and congratulations.

A positive is a positive.

My first few lines were very faint as well - i went to the doc (after taking MANY home tests) and the line there was faint as well - blood test confirmed pregnancy and doc said i was in REALLY early pregnancy which was why the line was so faint.

Now i'm 25wks pregnant with a perfectly healthy baby and starting to look like a whale! lol

Congrats! :)

I had 3 very faint lines, I even called EPT and they told me a positive is a positive and to follow up with my doctor. I reccomend taking another test tomorrow or in a couple of days and it will get darker. In some women it takes longer than others to get the hormone in their urine. I am now 20 weeks with a happy healthy baby in my belly!

There is no such thing as a false positive, only false negatives. The amount of HCG in your blood increases with gestation which could explain the faint line. A blood test at this point would be appropriate for further confirmation.

It sounds like your pregnant. If you have any doubts then you should see your doctor and obtain a blood pregnancy test as these are 100%. It's possible that your not very far along right now so that why the line is real faint. Good Luck

when i got pregnant with my first i ended up taking about 7 pg tests b/c they were all so faint. I was sure that it meant I wasnt pregnant. After going to the doc for my blood test and first checkup...i was definitely pregnant and delivered a healthy baby girl 37 weeks later. I am 34 weeks pregnant with my second girl now and had a faint positive on all three of my home pregnancy tests with her too! You and your baby will be fine! CONGRATS!

Faint positive is still positive! Congratulations! No, the level shouldn't have been darker. First morning urine will show the darkest line. You're barely pregnant, but you're still pregnant. Good luck!
