Rio´s climate is hot and humid all the year through. In April, as its the beginning of the South American winter, temperatures should be mild and pleasant. You still wont even need a sweater. You could go to the beach anytime in April.

You can go to the beach all year long. You might run into more cloudy or rainy days, but the temperature does not fluctuate as much as it does in the US. but you will see the locals wearing cold weather gear if the temp drops to sixty. Kind of funny.
