There is no reason we can not come up with affordable health care, and top notch medical treatment as well, this is America we can accomplish any goal with the right plan.

Yes, but I think we can control costs and keep quality by making it harder for people to press for lawsuits. Costs are so high primarily because of the cost of liability insurance that doctors have to pay. Liability insurance has put many doctors out of business where I live. Almost none can afford to take on medicaid patients at all. It's all going into the pockets of these super rich lawyers and people who misuse the system to become millionaires by screaming foul play when they broke a hang nail. Geez - I got a bruise when I had my baby - from the IV- maybe I should try to become a millionaire. We also need to do a better job of restricting healthcare to non-citizens - many who use medicaid now and should not. People shouldn't become illegal immigrants because they know they can get free healthcare if the US had a national health care policy. Most people I know who don't support national healthcare only say that because they have been so lucky as to ALWAYS have a healthcare plan through their large corporation or have always had enough money to buy one and they have never been out of work. They are the priveledged in our society. That's why we can't have a national health care plan - because those rich people put down the poor saying that they are just irresponsible and don't deserve to have benefits - but the people who are rich have political power to change the minds of politicians with their money. Large corporations also have huge political power and they don't see that there is a healthcare crisis because they are able to provide benefits to their employees.

You're kidding? I love these commercials, if you have a hard on for more than four hours, call your doctor. My doctor used to make house calls, that was years ago when doctors cared. If I called my doctor now I would be lucky to get an appointment in the next three weeks. There is no good reason why everyone in America does not have health care. There are however many reasons. First and foremost is the heath care industry itself, our government and its' scare tactics about being too expensive, as you mention they also tell us the quality of care would decline. Even with insurance it does not cover everything, has steep deductibles, and many, many health care providers, doctors, hospitals and clinics order unnecessary tests to collect that insurance money. The whole system is broken and tilted towards making money, not health care.

I wonder if it can get any worse At least if people can get basic care perhaps they wont deteriorate to the point where it costs thousands to "fix them up" Especially mental health patients need the care as they become worse. Same for many other chronic conditions An ounce of prevention.....
Ignoring the problems and hoping they will go away hasn't worked. The people just get sicker and poorer and in worse social conditions the mroe they are ignored It would be cheaper if not more ethical, to just give the care. Also initiate some patient responsibility-you have to quit smoking lose weight ,follow instructions etc(with help) if you want to get the free care

matters waht you mean by quality of care. I think this government should give quality care for all who live in this country. I also think that they should protect doctors agaisnt lawsuits that are unneeded. there yes are some well deserved lawsuits but thier also is some really messed up things people will claim just for some money----my friend is a doctor and the insurance he has to get to protect himself agaisnt lawsuits is getting so high he is thinking of going into another profession---and he is a good doctor.

No. I support health care for everyone at a better quality then we have now. We can do it, it would just take a lot of work, a lot of money, and a revolutionary way of thinking.

I would welcome a single-payer system like the one Canada has, and I do not believe it would result in a reduction in the quality of care.
The US is the only civilized country in the world without some form of universal health care, and we are nowhere near the top of the "health" rankings.

hmm... I'm not so sure national healthcare would lead to a reduction in quality...

but, I would be willing to even take a small drop, if it was needed for everyone to have it...

and it wouldn't double taxes, or even come close, unless the medical companies wrote the bill...

Yes if it meant that everyone got the right treatment.

Medical technology is growing at an ever increasing rate, that is what makes it so expensive.

We don't all need to live forever.

No, I like the quality of care that I receive from my benefits.
