The other answers are correct and you could do one other thing which is increase the circulation, or a small fountain aeration devise. Your set up may not allow for this, but if it does it is worth it.

filter the water change the filter cartage and use the brush to clean the glass. also there is a vacuum that you can get that will suck all the crap out of the gravel at the bottom .
do that and get some cleaning fish suckers kind

Only with a filter, and setting the pH correctly.

Do a partial water change and make sure you are filtering adequately.
