ANSWER:
Decompostion (also called Analysis).

EXPLAINATION (If you care):
Chemical Decompostion is the fragmentation of a chemical compound into elements or smaller compounds. It is sometimes defined as the opposite of a combination reaction (also known as synthesis). A generalized reaction formula is: AB → A + B.

EXAMPLES:
2H2O → 2H2 + O2.
2 NH3 → 3 H2 + N2

I am not sure of your level of chemistry, but this is a special reaction called an equilibrium reaction: The correct way of writing the equation of the reaction is PCl3 + Cl2 ↔ PCl5 The ↔ tells you that the recation is in equilibrium. What this means is that at any particular conditions of temperature, pressure, concentration, there is always all three species, that is, PCl3, Cl2 and PCl5 present. The proportion of reactants and products can be changed by changing the reaction conditions: PCl3 + Cl2 ↔ PCl5 ΔH = −124 kJ/mol The forward reaction is exothermic - it gives out heat. PCl5 exists in equilibrium with PCl3 and Cl2, and at 180 °C the degree of dissociation is ca. 40%. Because of this equilibrium, samples of PCl5 often contain chlorine, which imparts a greenish colouration. In this reaction you have a synthesis reaction, the forward reaction, taking place simultaneously with a decomposition reaction, the reverse reaction. That is why it is called an equilibrium reaction.

Decomposition, for example:

CaCO3 --> CaO + CO2

2HgO --> 2Hg + O2

etc
