Have your friend pass him a note that says "Do you like her, check yes or no". Just kidding! ;-)
Find something that's going on in your town that you would both be interested in doing. Ask him if he'd like to join you. Then, go from there.
If that doesn't do it for you, ask him for help in an area that you know he excels. Men love being problem solvers, and if he can help you, something might blossom from there.

Well hun, times are a' changin' and girls can ask guys out these days, you know... I would just like pass him a note somehow, or ask a friend to see if he's single first of all... then ask your friends to help you to ask him if he likes certain movies that are playing these days.. and see if your friends would like to come with you two for the first date to the movies, (making sure you get to sit right next to him), and their a couple of seats away.. And just take it from there.. Good-Luck, to you!! And dont be so shy, hun!! But, I would definately have friends go with you for the first few dates, to make sure he's for you, and just take things slow, at first, so that he will have and show "Thee Utmost Respect" towards you!! Have fun, let your hair down a bit!! You wont regret it, trust me!! Smile!!!

One of you need to take a chance and make the move to ask the other one out to do something together or before you know it the attraction will fade for lack of attention.

Ask him out.
If you're too shy to do it directly, ask him what kind of food (or movies) he likes, then steer the conversation towards a particular restaurant (recent movie) that you could go to.
