A 4 stroke can develop stronger torque at lower revolutions, making it better for pulling weight and for climbing hills etc. The 2 stroke is much better suited to lighter vehicles and can be alot more responsive (sketchy) on the throttle.
The 2 stroke has a separated engine casing, where the oil in the gearbox does not bathe the moving parts like the crank and piston; so oil has to be added to the fuel itself. Also, because the 2 stroke does its work at double the speed of the 4 stroke it tends to have a shorter life and requires more maintenance to keep it in good running order.

intake stroke where fuel and air mixture goes into the combustion chamber. compression stroke where it is all squeezed tight. power stroke where it is ignited by the spark plug and forces the piston down turning the crank and exhaust stroke where the exhaust valve opens to let the used gases out of the chamber and the whole cycle starts again.

To provide a smooth delivery of power to the wheels. The two stroke cycle is unable to provide such a smooth output. Two stroke engines were popular at one time for their simplicity and ease of maintenance particularly in motorcycles.

A two-stroke is a bit different, It fires every time the piston comes
to the top, A stroke is when the piston moves from the top to the
bottom, or from the bottom to the top.
