Edgar Allen Poe was really the first to come up with the idea of a haunted house in his work: "The Fall of the House of Usher". Current representions of haunted houses originated from his description.

Haunted houses are houses that are creepy, scary, and don't have anyone living in them. They are usually called haunted because someone died in them. Or because of strange things that happen inside. If you like haunted houses, check out a book about your state from the wierd and wacky collection. they have all sorts of cool old haunted places in them.

because sometimes the dead arent happy so they haunt the houses they used to live in, or sometimes a person might have been abused in the house so thier spirts roam around the house. also most times they maybe seeking help from you.

I guess because somebody had unfinished business!!! Do you know of any real good ones? As for the goofy ones you hear about at Halloween,I don't know because they aren't even scary.I haven't been to a good one yet!
