No. Because it does not tell me why. Why do you want to persuade your audience to boycott? Because it's bad food, fattening, cruelty to animals, old men with a foghorn leghorn look scare you .....?

"Should we boycott and/or shutdown KFC, because of the unethical and inhumane treatment of Chickens?"

or

"Should we boycott and/or shutdown KFC, because of the impact it is having upon America's health?"

You have to get you audiences' attention with the headline. Don't bore them and leave them wondering what you are going to discuss.

Although this is a very interesting topic, you may won't to reword it. The purpose of a persuasive essay is to persuade the audience into seeing or agreeing with your point of view. Think of reasons you may or may not want KFC to be closed. Then choose your title and thesis statement. The title must be worded to catch your readers attention. For example, If KFC was selling uncooked meat and making everyone sick, the title of your paper could be: "A Murderer Is On The Rampage: Are U Next?" If you honestly saw this headline in a newspaper, you would immediately start reading the column. In a persuasive essay, you have to capture the attention of your readers. Once you grasp their attention, state your facts as if you were boycotting on paper. Form sentences like: " I, for one, will not stand for this!" Persuade them into your thoughts. Pretend as if you are trying to convince your parents to buy you a car. You have to state the reasons you need the car and how it will benefit your parents as well as yourself. Base your persuasive essay on this and you're guaranteed a good grade. I hope I have been of some help!

I think something like 'should they ban fast food ads aimed at children?' or 'should fast food outlets put toys in their children's meals?' would be a better topic for you. It's something very relevant to your age group so it will be easy for you to argue a point and there will be plenty of information on these topics since they're dominating the news at the moment.

Asking a question like 'should we ban KFC' could lead to you getting bogged down in information. You're left with issues like why should it be banned when people have the right to eat fast food sometimes and why shut down a restaurant chain that offers people across the globe a job.

I think the topics that you would have talk about and to prove to your audience is a little to grown up for a middle schooler. There is alot of graphic detail that goes into this topic that you really shouldn't be exposed to at such a young age!

I do not stand with PETA on this protest btw...

I'm not sure what you should pick on your essay, but you should pick something less graphic and more directed to your age. Like, lowering the voting age, the lack of sweets in teh cafe', kids getting fat because they are glued to their Wii's, jobs, ect..

Any topic that is controversial can be a good topic. You need a topic that is likely to have two very clear and opposing sides. You also want to be able to present a "winnable" argument. Topics that cause an emotional reaction are also good. I think you have met all those requirements with this topic.
