I started my period in the early hours of thursday morning. It started off light, but gradually got heavier and very heavy, with large blood clots! i have been working night shifts, but on saturday i felt nauseated, heart palpitations and very dizzy. I am still tired today. By the way me and my boyfriend dont use any contraception. Do you think i'm anaemic

If the clotting is unusual for you, I'd be concerned. I'd also be concerned about the palpitations. It could be anemia or any of several other things. IMO, you need to call your doctor.

The only way to tell if you're anemic is to have your doctor test your blood.I bleed heavily every month and I'm terribly anemic. You didn't say if your period was late or not, have you thought maybe you had a miscarriage? If bleeding like this is uncommon to you then it very well could be.At any rate you should at least call your doctor and ask his/her advice. If it WAS a miscarriage you have to see your doctor as soon as possible because he will need to be sure that everything came out.Anything still inside could cause a infection and you could actually die. Please call your doctor.Nothing is as important as your health.Ummm...at the risk of sounding like a nag, your boyfriend and you should use protection.Even if you are faithful to each other there's always previous relationships or pregnancy.Good Luck!!!

I think you should go to the doctors, you wouldn't be garaunteed a good answer on yahoo ansers. It doesn't sound nice and I would be checked out straight away. I'm not sure you lose alot of blood when you have anaemia, just you have a low white blood cell count. I'm not 100% sure on that though, don't quote me. I'll have look now on google.

Is it possible that you might have been pregnant? I'm so sorry to have to tell you this but it sounds like you might have had a miscarriage. I would get to a doctor ASAP, it sounds like you've lost quite a bit of blood, which would cause the symptoms you're describing. In the meantime, take it real easy and drink lots of fluids so you don't get dehydrated. Good luck to you.

As you dont use contraception is there a possibility that you could have been pregnant and had a miscarriage? I suggest that you go and see your doctor and get checked out.....Oh and get some contraception at the same time.

If you don't usually clot get it checked
I suffer from clotting due to blood platelets being abnormal & high blood pressure
nausea & dizzyness could be blood pressure

I think you should speak you your doctor, why not call NHS 24? Or look at www.netdoctor.co.uk

Best to get it checked out, could be nothing, but your health is not something you should take a chance with.

I think if this is unusual to your normal cycle then you need to go and have a quick check up with your doctor. It could be many reasons.

Just to be on the safe side, I would go to your doctor to get checked out. It may be nothing, but if your not feeling well, then you should seek help quick.
