I think it's suppose to be "Ego" that would have been the title of Ayn Rand's "Anthem"... She later change it to Anthem because she reallized that Anthem is more fitting to describe the book because it doesn't only tackle a certain individual named EQUALITY but also takes on the society he's in. Thus instead of "Ego"... Ego for an individual... Anthem for all.

I think it has something to do with Equality and how he breaks away from society. he kind of makes his own "anthem" in a way. I would give you more help but i lost my english binder from last year.
Anthem means a song of praise, devotion, or patriotism. Try to find a way in which Equality was devoted or patriotic. I know in the end when he broke away, he found the word "I" and kind of started his own society. He was patriotic then. I hope this helped but I couldn't really remember much about the book. I know that was an essay question but I can't remember what I put.

Sorry, haven't read Anthem ... but I've read just about everything else she's ever written, and I would guess it has something to do with capitalism. She is a distinct pro-capitalist author, and she believes in laissez faire (spelling??), where the government should have their hands off of private business. She also believes that being a workaholic is actually taking the higher route. Hope this info helps ...
