No they are not ! I have owned staffordshire bull terrier`s for the last 22 year`s and have never owned such loyal and friendly dog`s , A staffordshire bull terrier may of been originally bred to kill bull`s but that was a very very long time ago ,
Staffordshire`s of today will provide you with a life long companion and should never be considered a dangerous dog .
I have children ( youngest is 2 ) and my staffie ( who is 6 ) is by her side day and night and play together .
If a dog is trained to fetch your slipper`s then it will do so ,
If a dog is trained to kill then it will do so
Dog`s are not at fault it is the owner`s to blame for the way they are treated & trained .

No i think the other answerer may be getting confused with Pit bull terriers which are a dangerous dog. Lots of people make that mistake. But Staffs are generally regarded as very friendly family dogs. Although like any dog there are exceptions and any dog has deadly potential.
I have known many staffs and all have been extremely friendly dogs.

No they do not come under the law. Its been said before n i'll say it again any dog can turn.
But thanks to the media when ever someone is attacked by a bull terrier(which doe's seem to happen a lot) they show a staffie or wot people know as the (english) bull terrier.
I have been looking around online for how many dogs attack people and it seems only the bull terrier types get mentioned.
A staffies nickname is THE NANNY DOG due to their loyalty to children. Check out website for more info

They aren't Illegal under the dangerous dogs act like the Pitbull.
They are one of the breeds seen as dangerous, Guard and Fighting breeds!
I Blame the Owner not the Dog!
A lot of people know little about dogs behaviour and nothing about breed behaviour so any dog is potentially dangerous. If you keep an animal you should know as much as possible about it.
I think through TV people are learning more about animal behaviour and training and Becoming more responsible. Unfortunately the kind of people attracted to guard or fighting breeds because of the dangerous reputation are not the sort to sit and watch Animal Planet.

Not officially. I believe the 4 dogs on the Dangerous Dogs Act are Pit Bull Terriers, Tosas, Argentine Dogo and Brazilian Mastif. Staffs are cousins of the Pit Bulls so people often get them confused and assume Staffs are often vicious. However, Staffs are actually great family dogs and generally love bring around humans (Steve Irwin had one on all his shows!).

No, I know plenty who have them apart from being a bit boisterous at times they are all lovely dogs. I would love to own a staffy but don't have the time for a dog at the moment.
I believe any dog can be dangerous, it depends on how they are treated. Dogs need to know their place in the pecking order. They aren't children and shouldn't be allowed to dominate.

people often get them mixed up with pit bull terriers but i believe they are related in some ways although they are powerful dogs a lot of people do think they are dangerous dogs but its most probably thought they are dangerous because of all the scallys goin out and fightin them with other dogs and beatin them up to become nasty but most are gorgeous fun loving things my cousin has 2 and her friend has one they are the funniest sofest nicest dogs you can meet if they are from a loving family

No, unless trained otherwise or badly treated. Any dog, like a human or any other animal can sometimes be aggressive, however staffs are apparently a very friendly dog. They are also very good with children despite the stereo typical view they have that they are fighting, aggressive dogs.

but I do agree no dog should be left alone with kids & owners should be held responsible for their dogs

well In my opinion any dog is dangerous unless the owner has complete control over it . And even then its a thin line . I mean I can control my Jack russell if he got out of hand could I control a big bull terrier Nope dont think I could they could over power me.
