My husband has been secretive enough over the years for me to want to ask. But I have never had the courage to ask him.

You shouldn't ask impertinant questions. Curiosity killed the cat. Why is this on the GLTG section?

The point is, for me personally, it is a really simple question. I don't do affairs as I have been badly hurt by being on the recieving end of previous partners having them. Therefore I made a deal with my current partner that honesty is the key. I have a real good bond of trust so I see no reason to break it. I don't force anyone to have a relationship with me, but I don't see the point in a relationship if my partner can not be faithful.
Therefore you have the perfect right to ask, but you need to be prepared for the consequences. If he is having an affair and it comes out, where do you go from there. If he isn't having an affair then you have seriously undermined your bond of trust. However if you are close enough to someone and they are being secretive then you need to talk about and let them know why it is important to you. Yes things might be explained away, but at least you can have closure and move on, rather than tearing yourself to pieces with suspicion and half baked theories!

well obviously he would only probably lie if he actually was having an affair lol. Now if hes not, obviously he will tell the truth. If he is being secretive though, he is probably having an affair, especially if it has been over a few years. Try to do a little undercover work (nothing illegal) and see what you can dig up. You can hire a private detective, if you really want to know, in order to find out.

What are you like, apart from crazy and paranoid?
How do you know exactly, that he is possibly being unfaithful to you? Has he said or done anything? Just to be secretive does not mean that he is having an affair, and I am sure that if he is that secretive you would not need to ask on here, it would be quite apparent. And not to put us guys down or anything, but we really are rubbish at keeping anything secretive especially if we know we are in the wrong.
So why dont you just put your mind to rest and ask him straight out what is on your mind, and I am sure that you will find that it is all not that bad. And once you do ask him out right from his reaction you should be able to tell if you were looking to deep or you were and have been on the right tracks over the last few years????
And I can not believe it has been years, why have you prosecuted yourself so much and for so long.

Lie, absolutely lie. Even in the face of evidence a man would lie. We're taught that women are stupid and fall for anything. If he's disrespectful enough to cheat on her, he'd be just as disrespectful and lie to her too. And then find a way to blame it on her anyway.

The only time people admit to an affair is either if they are feeling so guilty they can't take it anymore...or they want to bring things to a head and break up the marriage. That's it.

Regardless of what he says, whether or not he is having an affair you are opening a large can of worms, and if he's not, then he will be deeply offended. I would do a bit more detective work before confronting him!

Insitinctive reaction is to deny..........why would he just say yes......particularly if he thinks the secretive route is and has served him well. If he is being secretive and you suspect then you could try being equally sevretive and set a private eye on the cause or other tag systems...say on your comp....private eye is prob best. Then at least if you confornt....you will have evidence.
