I bought and installed a new mother board that supports AMD64x socket etc. AMD Athlon 4200+ 2.8 gig proc. , 80G hard drive, 52x cd re writable drive, 256mbddr2 Radeon x1300 xt g card dual 1 G memory cards and tried to install it into a case that had a power supply dated back into 2000. I hooked up the HD and CD D up with the power connectors, THEN, hooked them up to the mother board wth the IDE connectors but they didnt respond or even turn on when i had them hooked up to the mother board. BUT when I unhook them they did turn on, even when restarting the comp. It seems the only time it won't start is when the IDE cords are hooked up to the CD drive and hard drive. Anyone have suggestion? I am thinking at this point that it has to do with the power supply. I'm stumped.

Oh and the motherboard DOES turn on and stays on, its the cd drive and hard drive that don't when connected to the mother board.
