80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

here's my best stab at it! The meaning of life has no definition, because we are the ones who created definition, therefore the meaning of life is whatever we define it as. The meaning of my life, has recently changed, and it is to somehow, make everyone I know, enjoy life a little more. The reason the meaning of life does not yet have a universal definition, is because the masses have not yet been able to agree on any one definition.

There is no set meaning to life. Life means whatever you want it to mean. Follow your heart, let it take you on a journey, a journey that only you can experience in full but feel free to take someone along for the ride. It will be worth it and then one day you, and only you, will discover the meaning of YOUR life!

I like to quote the Bloodhound gang, from their song, "Take the long way home,"
Life is an aimless drive that ya take alone
Might as well enjoy the ride, take the long way home
The greater meaning of life is that there isn't any. It isn't a competition. It isn't about appeasing some other worldly supernatural puppeteer. It's about being satisfied with who you are at the end of the day.

Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.
I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.
You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.
The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us. -

The meaning of life is unconditional love, the purpose of life is to awake to unity with God in unconditional love within your heart. The supreme duty of life is to express that love to the best of your ability. As the colors of the rainbow are contained within sunshine so to are we all contained within the light of Gods unconditional love.

According to the beliefs of one character in The Accident, by Elie Wiesel:
"Yes, God needs man. Condemned to eternal solitude, he made man only to use him as a toy, to amuse himself. That's what philosophers and poets refused to admit: in the beginning there was neither the Word, nor Love, but laughter, the roaring, eternal laughter whose echoes are more deceitful than the mirages of the desert."
I don't know if I believe in that passage myself, but when I think about it, I see our lives as puppets on a string, little marionettes carved to be the entertainment.

the meaning of life is whatever you create it to be. if you want to know the real meaning, then look inside your heart. that is the only place you will ever find it.
