The 4 strings on the bass guitar are the same strings as on the "standard" guitar, although they are in a lower octave (set of 8 notes that make up a scale - do, re, mi....).
The strings are E, A, D and G.
Bass guitar is generally played one string at a time, by either plucking the strings with your fingers, or a pick. You may strum it like a guitar, or play multiple strings at once, but that is more advanced. Because of this, you generally only need to hold down one string at a time while you pluck it, as opposed to a guitar that deals with chords that require multiple fingers holding down multiple strings at the same time.
Bass guitar generally plays "the bass line", which is the dominant note of each chord, so you can play thousands of songs by only learning 3 notes.
Bass guitar, while you can make it MUCH more difficult, is significantly easier than electric guitar.
For some great bass playing, check out the late John Entwistle of The Who.

Basses have a lower sound than guitars
Basses have 4 thick strings (some have five or six strings) and a longer neck which give it its lower sound.
A guitar has six strings (some have 7) and a shorter neck which gives it a higher sound than the bass.
Because a Bass has a lower sound, it is usually used for rythm, while a guitar has a wider variety of uses.
Bass would be the easier of the two, because you play individual notes, rather than chords. The simplest way for me to put this is that there is less theory involved in the bass than the guitar.

Electric guitars (usually) have six strings tuned E A D G B E.
Bass guitars (usually) have four strings tuned E A D G, an octave lower than their corresponding strings on the electric guitar.
You can learn some chords and start playing rhythm pretty quickly, but to play lead is (to me anyway) very difficult, and will require a lot of study and practice. Bass to me is easier from a technical standpoint, but you have to have a good ear for what makes up a good bass line. A lot of guitarists switch to bass because they think it will be "easier", then play it like they're playing lead, and it sounds like crap. They're really different instruments, to me anyway.

Well...not all basses have 4 strings; there are 5, 6,7,8 and even 12-string basses. And bass is not necessarily easier to play - since the strings are much heavier than guitar strings, it takes more effort to fret them. I would recommend you start with guitar which will help you with learning and understanding chords and melody, and then move to bass later if the mood strikes you. Just because bass is on the bottom doesn't mean it's in the background...

Electric guitars have a wider range of sounds && stuff than a bass does. Bass' are lower in sound.
Electricc guitars have 6 cords/strings and bass' have 4.
As far as easiness, i'm not suree...
I would guess bass. It's usually not the main instrument in a song.

They can both be electric. Bass is 4 strings and regular is six. The 12 string sounds the best though. I would just start out with a regular wooden guitar for practice and build up the finger calouses first though. This way when you know what your doing you can go for the more expensive and it will be like a breeze to play after the wooden one.

A bass buitar had 4 strings and the are all tuned low. A regular guitar has 6 strings. I would start with a 6 string acoustic guitar for learning.

a bass guitar is the 4 stringed one and since its for mostly chorus and the background it is easier, as for an electric one its the one with 6 strings and its the one thats heard the most so the easier one would be the bass guitar

bass has 4 strings (usually)
and its alot easier to play
guitar is a completely different insreument, and much harder to paly. but if you can play guitar you can play bass. because with bass you only play notes. and on guitar you have to notes and chords. so. and the bass have the same string names as guitar...but its a ton more low pitched than guitar.
