To increase the speeds of those connected visit http://www.speedguide.com and run their Broadband Optimizer on each. To expand the distance you will need to add a few hot spot antenna. These you can get from about anywhere, but i have a link on my site below for a Mile Wireless System. Hope this helps and Happy New Year

To go further you can get a Wireless Network Expander. (I know, shockingly obvious.)

It's a device you plug into an electrical outlet that lets you extend your networks range easily.

If this is a personal network, I'd recommend the Apple Airport Base Station Extreme. It will let you extend a network, or let you connect a stereo or speaker set to your ITunes library, as well as act as a USB print server.

To increase the speed on your LAN:

Make sure your using ALL wireless-g components, otherwise you'll be sent back to the wireless-b speed.

Make sure your signal strength is excellent to all locations: lower strength, lower speed.

If you mean the absolute speed, as in the fastest possible communication between computers on your network, you'll need to get some new hardware.

I recommend shopping around before buying. Various companies have released new technology that is faster than wireless-g, like Linksys Wireless N, but both your router and your computers need the same type of card to get that speed boost.

To increase length with wireless network first try moving your wireless router around because some places will give you better signal . you could also add other wireless access point around where you dont get as much connection to send your signal out farther where you wireless starts to not connect.
For some great increases you could try going for a new router or protocol. when I had a dlink di-624 as my router it started at 54Mbps and then had a firmware update to 108mbps on a 802.11 g connecction not i have a di 634 router that its maximum is 300 Mbps on 802.11n (draft) and have had some inproved speeds and distance.

hope this helps you ;) .

The age old question how can be go farther and faster?

I would look at getting a range boaster wireless router with a built in speed boaster. If you are trying to go faster than what your ISP offers you are out of luck as they throttle the connection speed back at the server.

you need to give some specifics on your surrounds. are you in a apartment, detached house or what? how far do you need to reach from the wireless router to the furthest wireless receiver? what flavor of 802.11 are you using?

You need a better antenna on your wifi router.
I have seen a wifi amplified antenna that was several feet high. I was told it costs less than a 100$
