You like Eldest yet love books? A walking contradiction.'
However, my suggestions would be:
Dragonlance series (Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, anything else by them as well), Coldfire Trilogy (starts with Black Sun Rising and is by C.S. Friedman), and the Silmarillion by the Master, Tolkien.
They all have very different styles, some are classic and some are not, but I enjoyed reading all of them. They are also all written on a much higher level than Inheritance.

Go find anything by Marion Zimmer Bradley or Niel Gaiman (he was the mind behind The Sandman graphic novels, also highly recommendable). There's a good 2-book series by Guy Gavriel Kay that starts with "Sailing to Serantium," also "The Golden Compass," a trilogy by Philip Pullman or "Over Sea, Under Stone," a youth-fiction 5-book series by Susan Cooper.
Good luck, and have fun--

Some classic Staples:
Harry Potter*, lord of the Rings*, 20,000 leagues under the sea, Beowolf, Illiad and Odyssy, Chronicals of Narnia*
Also try:
Books by Tamora Pierce* (wonderful stories if meant for younger people), Bartimeaus Trilogy***(Excelent story with plenty of magic, all three are out and i believe even in paper back) Artemis Fowl, to an extent. The Pellinor Series* (The Naming, The Riddle, two more scheduled for release one only in england right now, very good books), *Books by Raymond E Feist (the rift war series is simply amazing) The telling pool, just look into your fantasy/sci fi section at your local book store
* = a book i especially prefered.

Here are some of my favorite teen books:
The Old Kingdom Trilogy:
Sabriel, by Garth Nix
Lirael, by Garth Nix
Abhorsen, by Garth Nix.
They're completely sci-fi, I have to admit, but I never liked any sci-fi until I read them-- I was more of a fantasy type of kid. But they are enchanting.
The Thief, by Megan Whalen Turner
The Queen of Attolia, by Megan Whalen Turner
The King of Attolia, by Megan Whalen Turner
Another trilogy, although this isn't classified into fantasy but it also captivated me when I first picked it up and, when the last book came out a few months ago, I was still captivated.
The Wind Singer, by William Nicholson
Slaves of the Mastery, by William Nicholson
Firesong, by William Nicholson
Another trilogy! Geez... Okay, honestly, I don't know if these books fall under the fantasy category, either. I apologize, but they're wonderful books as well!

My favorite series of Science Fiction/Fantasy is Raymond E. Feist's Magician: Apprentice, Magician: Master, Kondor, and A Darkness at Sethanon. Collectively, they are known as the riftwar sage. Another good series is the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. It consists of Assasin's Apprentice, Royal Assasin, and Assasin's Quest.

Depends on how old you are as to what I would recommend.
Are you kidding me??? I get a thumbs down because I want to recommend age appropriate books??? My 14 yr old son is an avid reader of magic.fantasy and could recommend some of his favorites, but I don't read books from that age group. I have read some very good books but there are few books that I would recommend for someone his age. So, I definately think age makes a difference if you don't know the books focused on younger ages.

If you loved the Eragon books you would probably like Lord of the Rings; then you would realize that Eragon was a big rip-off from JRR Tolkein and that christopher kid is a horrible writer.

The "Narnia" series by C. S. Lewis, all 7 of them are good, "Lord of the Rings" by Tolken, start with "The Hobbit", The three book series by Madelleine L'engle starting with "A Wrinkle in Time", and the "Dragon Riders of Pern" series by Anne McCaffrey. It starts as Three books but don't miss "The White Dragon" either.

Harry Potter is a good book series. Lord of the Rings is an excellent series if you love adventure and fantasy, but I think Harry Potter is the best.
