When i take my iTunes library off of my PC and put it on my laptop, the purchased music goes on fine. The non-purchased music will go on, but it can't be used because iTunes can't locate the original file. Because of this, the songs won't go on my iPod.

Could someone please tell me how I can fix this, and have iTunes find the original file, and have the non-purchased songs go on my iPod.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

download the most recent version of iTunes, and you have backward and forwards transfer from your iPod. Don't copy your music files onto a cd or thumb drive(that sounds like what you're doing)-simply plug in your iPod with all your songs on it and back them up onto your laptop. All iTunes songs can be stored on up to 5 different computers. If you don't want to do it that way, there are many different third party software programs that will do the same thing. The one that I use is called iPodRip.

Go to file, add folders and tell iTunes where the files are located on the laptop. That should work fine.

With later variations of iTunes, you would be waiting to turn on something noted as homesharing. you may turn on it on the two desktops, and with the comparable iTunes account, in spite of the fact which you do not could log in to the relatively iTunes with the account. Then, you may pass each and every thing to the two laptop from the two library wirelessly. i'm uncertain, even nonetheless it is going to require wireless.
