It is tough, but you have to keep the lines of communication open. Things will get said in the 'heat of the moment', but your family will come round. You need to make them aware that your chosen way of life is not a threat and it is a really positive thing. The more you can share with them (without being too explicit) the more they will come to understand and accept. By the same token Rome wasn't built in a day, give them time to absord what you are trying to tell them. Above all don't give up trying, you have to be happy in yourself and once your family realise that they will come round.

Find a new family. They can be in your life once they learn to accept you, respect you and care about the real you. Either that or I guess you can try to work on getting them to accept you and do the right thing. It's you choice.

Pflag is a great organization that will help them understand or at least get them to accept. Besides give them time, all parents feel they made a mistake in raising their child when they find out. Not so, you'll be a great woman and they will see that.

Don't sweat it hun, i mean sure it hurts that the people who are supposed to be there for you always have now turned their backs on you, but you are better off for being an honest person with yourself and with them. in a perfect world they will come around and accept you. but don't bet on it. turn to your friends for support and make some new ones that love you for who you are. i have been there and know how it feels, it sucks but it's way worth it to be able to live your life freely and be who you were meant to be. if you ever wanna chat, look me up. luvway1022@yahoo.com

personally i want to say F#$%'em all. but that won't help you.

Family is a genetic group you are attached to. They will come and go. Death is inevitable.

All you have to do is be comfortable with yourself and your feelings. You are OK enough with yourself to tell someone else you care about, and that takes allot.

There will always be someone who is unhappy with what you are or what you're doing. Be OK with yourself. If they can't handle that...it's their issue. Not yours.

You can tell who's problem it is by the "Scream and Flail". Usually the person with the problem is the one who screams and flails.

it will take them time to accept what you have told them and to soak it in. Let them think about it for a while. They'll welcome you back
