12 wks is usually around the time most have thier first appt.
I would schedule it soon. because there are certains that can only be done during certain times. And some drs wont take you after a certain period.

You should go, but if money is an issue for the moment you should see if there are any programs and/or clinics in your area that give free or low cost health care. Try Planned Parenthood, Zeta Phi Beta's Stork Nest, March of Dimes, or look on your state web site to see if they have something similar. Most states and hospitals have something. Also, try to check with her employer to see if the coverage will be retroactive, so if you go now when the insurance is taken care of you can submit the claim and get reimbursed for the cost.

She should be taking pre-natal vitamins which can be purchased over the counter. They will ensure baby and mommy get the extra vitamins they both need.
As to your first pre-natal appointment, i would book it as soon as you can - either paying for it if you choose or once insurance comes through (assuming it will be soon).
Personally i didn't see my doc until i was 12wks along - unless the pregnancy is classed as a "high risk" one they wouldn't take me until 12wks along anyway - so don't freak out about it too much!
Good luck :) hope the insurance comes through soon!

Yes, you should make a Dr. appt. SOON. You could always make an appt. at a clinic and it won't cost you as much then when you get her insurance figured out she can go to a regular Dr. Don't let it go too long.

No, it isn't bad. In fact, I have heard several people say that they haven't gone in until 36 weeks! It is great to ease your mind if you are anxious or worried about how the baby is doing, and the first UltraSound is a whole new experience, but it should be okay that you haven't had a visit yet.

Just pay for it out of pocket. Jeez...that's your kid that is (possibly) suffering. You need to know the health of your baby, so just make an appointment and pay for it with cash.
