The doctor is going to induce labor because your baby is already grown enough to be born. You have a nine and a half month old baby in your body and the doctor believes it's time it comes out. bye. good luck to you!

I am 34 weeks pregnant my self and a diabetic. Recently my sugar levels have gone out of control and I myself am also measuring about 5 weeks farther along then I actually am. Some babies are just big so do not fret too much over what your sister has told you. The only people who can make those judgments are your medical caregivers. If you are truly worried about it make a note to ask your Dr the next time you have a visit with him/her. I am scheduled to have a csection two weeks before my son is actually due and that is because when a baby is bigger then average it is safer to take him/her early because the placenta starts to deteriorate earlier then it normally would if the baby were smaller. My daughter was born two weeks early and was 8 pounds 14 ounces, not a SMALL baby, and she is a healthy child now at almost 4 years old!!! Good luck and congrats on the baby!

Your sister means you'll probably be induced, although if the doctor didn't have you schedule an appointment, you probably won't be induced. I question the doctor's estimate that the baby is "1.5 months bigger than it's supposed to be." A baby's volume (weight, height, etc.) isn't measured in months, but in pounds (grams) and inches (centimeters), and every baby is different. My son was born 9 lbs. 7 oz, a rare few are born over 14 lbs., and some full term babies at 6 lbs. or less. Induction is only necessary for medical intervention or celebrities.

It could just mean you have a very large baby. While I was a normal average sized baby, my brother was 11lbs 14oz at birth and my sister was 11lbs. While my first three children were 7lbs2oz, 7lbs7oz, and 8lbs2oz, my youngest child was 6lbs9oz at 35 weeks so would have been well over 9 lbs if born full-term. Not big by my mother's scale but bigger than I would have wanted to push out.

well, it means either you are further along than you thought or you are having a big baby. I do not see any reason to induce labor early. just because your baby is big does not mean it is done developing. babies do come in different sizes, they don't all have to be the average 7 lbs. but due to the size you may very well need a c-section. good luck

Well it means either you have a big baby or the baby was concieved before you thought and the due date is off.
You will most likely be induced because the baby will continue to grow and be too big to fit. Then you'd be stuck with a c section.
Although they most likely won' tlet you go before 37 weeks.
And if you end up gettin ginduced get a epidural asap because it is a thousand times worse...trust me i know.

It means that your baby is the same size as a newborn after two weeks would be. It's all based on averages, though, so I wouldn't worry about it too much, your baby might have just started building fat a little earlier than average.

The baby will come out when they are ready. So what if they are big. That's one healthy baby. It's dangerous to induce before going to labor. The midwife said so.

If your Dr feels there is danger to you or your child he/she may induce labor by giving you Pitocin. It will start your contractions so that you can deliver your child. Two reasons to have labor induced is if you are overdue or your water broke and labor hasn't started. There are other reasons also.
