I can't cook to save my life.

I do most of it because if my husband was left to run the household, we'd all be eating frozen burritos five days a week and pizza the other two, and the kids would always have to wear unmatched clothes because there wouldn't be enough clean laundry in time.

I don't feel it's my role, but my husband just doesn't think ahead. I know I could leave things to him, and I have to when I'm sick or traveling, and it's all fast food and him washing his own clothes but forgetting the kids' or mine. He has no concept of keeping 'the house' running.

Fortunately we hire a cleaning lady to do most of the housework, and I'm amenable to take-out a couple nights a week. DH will also do specific things if I ask him, like pick up groceries at the store or wash the kids' pajamas. I know it's a role I put myself in, because of how I like things. Oh well. At least he'll empty the trash and the diaper barrel without being asked.

Why on Earth should I feel the need to be a domestic maid to ''cater to my man''? He and I both have our own lives, and we both make time to be together and take care of each other.

He's a better cook than I am, I'll wash up when he cooks. It's very easy. We're equals, we share, and that's how it should be. We've catered to each other for more than 8 years quite happily and neither of us would have it any other way.

What has age got to do with it? What do you consider older? My "role" as a women is to learn as much as a can so I may then decide my own future. You should try it. Start with a refresher course in grammar.

I don't feel its my role but I look after the kids better and when my Husband gets home before me or has a day off, I don't have much to do when I get home from work. Also he works really hare and travels for at least 2 hours to work so I feel he needs to relax when he gets home in the evening and at weekends.

Well I AM that older type of woman and I happily do the cooking (he does bar-b-Q) and the cleaning because HE mows the lawn and takes care of the cars and fixes leaky faucets. It's an equal thing where each does what best suits them. Oh, and I also work, just as he does.

Do I cater to my man? Yes, I in fact do. Do I feel that it is part of my role as a woman? Absolutely not. I do, however, feel that it is in my nature to be very giving and maternal. I need to feel and know that I am truly helping others, and in the case of my relationship, contributing to the household and my man's level of happiness. In a nutshell, my willingness to cater to my man comes from my need to feel helpful.

Yes in deed i would cater to my man, because if i love him and i know what he likes it will be a pleasure to cater to him. I do not want him to take it for granted that i will be his maid but yes i would cook for him on occasion.

I clean, cook and do the laundry. My husband works and goes to school. He tries hard to provide for the family..I also go to school, but I have more time to do these things. He doesn't make me to them either. He helps when he can, I like to take care of my family. Makes me feel good.
