Because, they put their 'faith' in a man that even-they-themselves can now see is completely opposite from what he said he was/what they 'thought' he was,...therefore,.. asking any question about Bush is tantamount to 'questioning' their choice/s, and/or fitness to make rational choices.
Also, people don't like to admit that they've Been DUPED so easily, and therefore react (sometimes-physically/violently) when they feel 'threatened' by maybe having-to admit the truth.
Seeing as how Bush USED religious-persons to bolster his numbers, Religious-persons aren't generally known for their tolerance for 'different-views'....
(eg: Think like You're TOLD to think or be subjected to Eternal Torture) etc.

I think it's because they know they have backed a loser. They'll protest, and try to shift the blame to something else, but in the end, even the die hard Bush supporters know that Bush has run a failed administration.
Believe me, even though I am a Democrat, George Bush had my support in the sad days following 9/11. I was willing to overlook the gaffs about "crusades" and "if you aren't with us, you're against us." Unfortunately, he and his administration have either done nothing or done absolutely the wrong thing at ALMOST EVERY instance since then. I don't expect perfection from anyone, but I do expect our leader to be bright enough to realize when things aren't going right, try something different, and if that fails, try something else. This administration has been stubbornly mired in "more of the same" failed policies.

The ones that feel personally attacked are pretty dumb. You know, the family of four bringing in 40k a year that votes Republican......consider the source.
It's a part of being in politics to be criticized.

Yes, Bush still has supporters, and the more name-
calling I hear about him from rude Liberals, the better
I like him than the name-callers. The liberal media has
trashed him day in and day out, and it is uncalled for.
He has done some good things while in office and is a
decent human being. He only took us to war to keep
terrorists from our own door (certainly not to be popular,
as it has made him unpopular) and I appreciate that. The
last thing we need is terrorists in our neighborhoods,
cities, and streets with car bombs and attacks on innocent
people. Just stop and think about life here if that should
happen....it would be hell....so I don"t fault him for trying.
We have 15,000 deaths in America from violence on one
another and I don't see you libs nor the media pouncing
on that day after day, yet you do the same with 3000 military
deaths. Deaths are a part of war and no one likes war, not
even Bush, but sometimes events call for drastic actions.

Simple, they feel duped. Take this analogy, it's like investing everything you have in your partner and trust her implicitly and then I come round and tell you that she has been sleeping with every other guy in the next block.... whilst you may very well believe me, you are in denial because until you see or feel it yourself it is easier to bury your head in the sand.
These people invested the most important thing a private citizen has in Bush, their vote, and in some cases twice, and now they know they have been seriously duped and refuse to accept the facts.
