Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba say,

"What is meant by birth and death? To assume a body is birth and to cast off the same is death. It is out of delusion that man experiences the dualities of birth and death. When we inhale with the sound 'So', the life principle enters our body and when we exhale 'Ham', it goes out. Every moment, this process of inhalation and exhalation reminds us of our inherent divinity - 'So-ham' (I am God). So long as there is life-breath, the body is considered to be Shivam (auspicious). Once the life-breath ebbs away, it becomes Shavam (corpse). Both birth and death are related to the body and not to the life principle. Man experiences birth and death because of his body attachment. He will be released from the cycle of birth and death only when he gives up body attachment and surrenders himself completely to the Will of God."

luv and SAI RAM,

The meaning of Birth and Death as tld by Lrd Sri krishna in Bhagawad Gita -

There is nothing for you to grieve about, as this world process is naturally without beginning. Even if this does not appeal to you, you should see that every creature is subject to birth and death, which are inevitable

For death is certain for one that is born and birth is certain for one that dies. Therefore, you should not grieve for that which is inevitable.

Whatever is born dies and whatever dies comes to life; thus this wheel of life revolves continually. Just as the sun-rises and sets without interruption, so birth and death are difficult to avoid All the three worlds perish at the time of dissolution, and therefore, origination and end are inevitable. If you accept this, why do you lament? Since you know it, why don't you grasp it fully? If you look at it from any angle, you will realise that there is no cause for grief. -

Birth and Death are The Two Most Powerful Events of Creation in a Lifetime. I say Lifetime because we never die...we just drop our physical mass and change form...and we live for eternity.

Love this question, and Love the first answer! Yes, what is meant by them, indeed!

In most ways, we know we have always been, and will always be.

Of what necessity is it to mark the very beginning and ending of our earthly time at all? It's a good thing that we all know that kind of stuff!

At least on this section of Answers and I don't know why this took me so long to find!

Time moves circularly, and not linearly, as our premordial ancestors at one time knew. And we are gaining new knowledge of again, because we have always known.

If you are asking in the Biblical sense, The Bible says that we are first born in the flesh when we are physically born as babies from the womb. Then when we repent of our sins and ask the Lord into our heart to be our personal Savior, we are "born again" in the spiritual sense and not physical. But to be "born again" you must first give up your free will and let God be in control of all that you are and do. You must fully surrender all that you have to him, including your life. We must ask for forgiveness for our sins and then we must give Him all the glory and live for Him in the way that the Bible teaches. Then by the grace of God we will be saved. We need to lay down our life before Him as He (Jesus) did for us when He died for our sin on the cross. So in a sense we must die to live. In that we must die of our old sinful self(nature) to live anew in our cleansed self and begin our fellowship and relationship with Christ. Then we will have the real peace, joy and hope, that only God can give to us. Before we can enter Heaven this must be done. In John 14:6,Jesus says, "I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE, No one will come to the Father (God) but by me.(Jesus). So then Jesus was born to die on the cross for our sin and to rise up again so that we would have eternal life. Read the story of Nicodemus in the New Testiment of the Bible. This will help you have a better understanding of being born to die and to be "born again" to have eternal life.

Those are the two ends of a circle... They are a definition to help people to understand the seasons of life. We never really die, but most people don't know it yet.
