multiculturalism have to be seen in more than 1 perspective.

you can see it through the word CULTURE - what can be defined by the using of free time in order to get new and usefull information about the world (museums, exhibitions, concerts...)

the toher type of multiculturalism can be seen in the many ethnicities living in the same well defined space (ex cities). how can these groups of ppl live together, what problems may occur, what negatives, what positives, who are the segmented groups? why?

after stated the stuffs up there i wnat to quote somthing i heard these days.... it is a funny one: "the world is colorfull, bouth the ppl living in it, otherwise they couldnt be seen" ...so i think multiculturalism is good. tilll one point of the world histoy will be many many ethnyc groups bringing their own style of living (see valentines days-globalized) i think multiculturalism will disappear not shortly, but great sociologists try to make ppl equal by culture... that will not happen because there are many grous of society living in segregation (indians, gepsies)...

i hope i gave you some clues. becaus i cant stop writnig.... but i should... because i have to study for sociology exam :P

ps: for attitudes on multiculturalism is a good literature Elliot Aronson. and.. deviations... but do not judge pukers with blue or green hair... they adoted to thei fellows, and only in our eyes they are deviant, in his point of view you are deviant... ;)

have luck.

Every ethnic group has something to offer mankind, Germany has classical music, Italy offers Opera, Scotland gives us whiskey and bagpipes. France sells champagne to the world. I could go on and on. Multiculturalism is good , in that it can take advantage of each country's best export. It is not good if you are at an airport and there are 50 languages to illustrate where flights are departing and arriving. If Multiculturalism can be managed to avoid chaos but still utilize the best that cultures/countries have to offer, I believe it is a piece of cultural evolution that will spur us on to respect and peace.
