Man, that's hard. I could show you how to do it in two minutes, but to explain it would take two pages. I'd suggest you head down to a construction site an ask an electrician how to "ladder lace" your cord, trust me he'll get a kick out of showing you.

If you're asking abt storing/loop-coiling 25 to 100 feet of extension cord, I use a wind up reel for anything near 40 feet long or longer. The reels usually sell for abt $5 and can store abt 150 feet of #16 wire. You hold the reel by its center/inner "bearing" and gently pull on the wire to unreel it, like pulling out fishing line, except from a bigger reel. When you get ready to store the wire, you fix one end of the cord and then take the reel knob and wind up the wire.
Something I find very advantageous with long cords (16-20 feet) like those attached to vacuum cleaners, I wind up the cord on the tangs provided, using a figure 8. The rationale with the figure 8 is
1) it "consumes" cord faster when you're putting the cord away, so you spend less time;
2) the figure 8 configuration allows you to more readily remove all the line (from the tangs) at once if you want to;
3) the loosely wound figure 8 configuration generally puts less stress on the internal wire people are prone to do when just winding plain loops

Tie a loose square not in the end you do not want to pull from. Grab the wire about 12 inches from the knot and push into hole in square not. Now stick your hand into the first loop you just made down to about 12 more inches and pull thru. Repeat until fully looped as you want. :-) hard to explain

As the first two indicate it's easier shown than explained in writing. I't can also be a bit time consuming if you're working a job and have 100 ft cords. I let others RE do mine,,,smiles.

It's looped in the same manner as parachute cord so when pulling the one end, it all comes out at once. it's very easy once you see it but, I can't show you on here. Sorry.
