This is the exact definition of feudalism and it needs to be understood well.

I think all four of them are correct in some way (A,B,C, and D) True that nobles were given land by the King to serve him, that's how you get saying such as "Lord of the Manor". B, because there were small middle classes such as merchants and other salespeople, and mistrels. C, because there had been historical accounts of peasants rebellions and D because the kings always had armies and guardsmen. That's how you get squires, pages, and knights. And knights were usually the bastard children of noblemen or royals.
