I am 18 weeks pregnant and I just found out I have a low-lying placenta. I was really upset until I started doing research. I am doing a little better but I don't want to have a c-section. Because I have a low-lying placenta does this mean I have to get a c-section. The doctor did say it isn't placenta previa.

My mom had this condition (and a few others) that forced her to have a c-section.

Your placenta still has time to move since you aren't very far along. Don't worry about it though, better said than done isn't it? If you are worried about a scar, don't be...they fade pretty fast and it's just a badge showing what you went through.

In the end you'll come out of this with a baby who will be precious and adorable no matter how (s)he gets here.

I had the same "problem" earlier in my pregnancy. Im 30 weeks along now, but when I was around 12 weeks, an ultrasound showed that my placenta was lying really low and making me spot. My doctor told me it was too early to worry and that most of the time low placentas will move up and everything will be fine. Then, when I went for my 20 week ultrasound my placenta had moved way up and is in a good spot. Try not to worry about it, even though I know that thats almost impossible! Take care and good luck.

.

Placenta previa is when the placenta is covering or next to the cervix. They will perform a cesarean for that since delivering the placenta first can be dangerous.

I was originally diagnosed with placenta previa and my placenta moved up and out of the way. The did do a repeat u/s to check the placement of the placenta.

A lot of the time the placenta will move up itself, and everything will be fine. Although if it doesn't move they will probably do a c-section because of the risk of it rupturing naturally. Best wishes to you!
