Global warming means that it is later each year when the Arctic sea ice freezes and that same ice melts earlier each summer. Polar bears hunt for food (seals) at the edge of the sea ice - where the ice and the ocean meet. So because the sea ice is around for a shorter time each year, polar bears are not feeding well for a longer and longer period each year. Polar bears are getting skinny, even starving. As a result they tend to hang around communities and garbage dumps they come across. Then they become a threat to the local people because they wander into communities looking for food, putting people in danger. I have seen that happen in an Arctic community I was living in, and unfortunately a polar bear had to be killed because he was endangering children on their way to school one morning.
These links should help you.

I don't know any links but global warming is heating up the water which is melting the ice bergs which is leaving the polar bear with no land to rest so threfor they are forced to swim for miles and miles until they come across land. some polar bears have down due to swimming for so long with out any luck in finding land. It is so very sad:(

Scientists expect Polar Bears to be on the endangered species list within 40 years because of global warming. There habitat is getting warmer every year which makes it increasingly difficult for them to hunt. I seen it on that special on the History Channel about possible ways humanity can destroy itself or be destroyed by natures fury.

Basically, the polar bears live on ice, and if there is no ice, no polar bears.
