b² - 2b + 3b - 6

Start by taking the first two terms and factoring out a common b:
b(b - 2) + 3b - 6

Then take the last two terms and factor out a common 3:
b(b - 2) + 3(b - 2)

Now you have a common b - 2 to factor out:
(b + 3)(b - 2)

There's your answer

b^2-2b+3b-6
= b(b-2) + 3(b-2)
= (b+3)(b-2)
