I need to create an image for a website I've made. Is it legal to use an image search and use a pic I like? Or would that get me in trouble?

It is permissible if the image is not copyrighted. However, it is sometimes difficult to tell from an image search whether or not an image is copyrighted. Probably the best advise would be to contact the person who has put the image on the web, and see if it is copyrighted. Even if it is, they may give you permission to use it.

Mention where you got the image. make a tag line or something that says I got this pic at so and so and maybe make a link to that site. You could also ask the person who ones the site if you could use the pic. but usually a tag line is okay.
good luck with your website!

If the picture is in public domain you may use it. Else you must get permission from the owner.
