Checksum: a simple error-detection scheme in which each transmitted message is accompanied by a numerical value based on the number of set bits in the message. The receiving station then applies the same formula to the message and checks to make sure the accompanying numerical value is the same. If not, the receiver can assume that the message has been garbled.

Hi

Usually it is bad RAM or a bad battery.
Try this:
1. power off pc, remove power cable. Relax for a few minutes, get a drink or something Give it ten minutes. Some yoga...

2. plug it back in and if it comes up and complains about hard drive size, time and date, etc - it might be your battery.
If it does complain about these things, replace the battery - it's relatively cheap - and see if it fixes the problem. round shiney thing.

3. if not, power it off, unplug it, and open it up. Locate the RAM - 'pop' the ram out and then put them back in. if there are two or more, try restarting it with different ram in different spots to try and narrow it down to the bad ram chip. All motherboards take different ram, so be careful with swapping it out.
Replace and bad ram. Borrow a buddies while he isn't looking and try it out.

4. If these steps don't work, time to get drastic. get all hardware settings and names from device manager. Remove all boards, hard drive, floppy, cdrom, dvd drive cables from the motherboard. remove all cards. try restarting again and see if you get the same thing. process of elimination to find the bad component.

5. still nada? bad luck - most likely motherboard.

It usually just means the setup battery is dead and you lost all your settings when you unplugged it. It's very easy to replace.
