A few years ago a blizzard struck two days before Christmas. The city was gridlocked at 3pm on 12/23. When my husband heard the weather regarding said blizzard, he immediately left home and drove to my office to rescue me. What normally is a one hour drive turned into a 6 hour nightmare. Despite the very treacherous traffic conditions, my husband drove on - very slowly in our 4 wheel drive pickup to get me home to our children in time for Christmas.

Well it's my favorite, but it wasn't very fun. In high school during my freshman or sophmore year, we kept having bomb threats. Well, some idiot decided to call one in on a day it snowed, pretty hard for where I live, and the whole school had to stand out in the snow for an hour before the genius school board decided to just send everyone home. I didn't drive yet and didn't know anybody there who did, so I had to wait for my bus - which arrived pratically last another hour later. So I had been standing in the falling snow for 2 hrs. My hair was frozen into ice clumps when I got home and I immediately jumped into a scolding hot shower.

Getting snowed in. . . no school. Listening by the radio for school closings with my big sister. Spinning around in parking lots in my land yacht '78 Ford LTD. . .getting stuck occasionally. Marathon Yahtzee and Backgammon tournaments! Shoveling to the neighbors so we could still celebrate Thanksgiving!!

I have so many snow memories from growing up and one as a newlywed.
While growing up, we lived on a hill and the hills would be impossible for cars to go up, so we would sled down them with sleds, cardboard, whatever. Our parents would also take us to Mt. Hood (in Oregon) and go sledding down the hills with cardboard or whatever. Just after I got married the first time, my friend and I went with a guy (her boyfriend) to Mt. Hood and went sledding down the hills. And, while growing up, there was this one hill that was always closed when it was icy and snowy because it was sooooooooo steep and way too dangerous to drive up or down on. All of the kids in the area would take their sleds, cardboard pieces, or whatever, and go sledding down it! And it has this flat area in the middle that immediately takes you over a big bump and you go flying down the rest of the hill! At the end of the hill, tho, is a busy street, so we had to be extra careful.
