Most loyal but probably not the best is the Jack Russell Terrier, sometimes can be too loyal. My parents had one when I was a baby and my Gran came round to the house and the dog went for her because she came too close to the pram.

Most people would say that a dog is the most loyal pet that you could get. But although this may sound weird, it actually depends on the individual animal. For example, some dogs may be really loyal to their owners and be their best friend but others may like their owner but not too loyal to them.
Cats and Dogs may be the loyalest pets but birds (mainly parrots) seem to be extremely loyal.

Def a HORSE!!! I have had my horse from the age of 10 (now 18) and she has saved my life - when i fell off after jumping in a field and broke my back - she layed down next to me and waited she is 16.1hh and i am 5ft 9 but she was so careful and i can not fault her when someone found me - they could not get an ambulance to the area she pulled the spinal board for just over a mile, carefully and gently - what animal does that - the paramedic who walked over was so surprised and when my horse allowed him to get on when normally NO ONE can get on her!!!!! so it says that she knew they were helping and she is a loyal pet and will never be replaced!!!!!! So horse!!!!

Any breed of Dog will be the most loyal animal you could ever own. As long as you give it all the love and attention it needs, it will thank you. Am sure anyone can find a soulmate in a dog.

Personally think if you love and care for any pet they will be loyal. Except cats they are VERY moody, but I still recommend a cat. Very Easy to look after feed them, love them, clean the litter box.

well..there's one on a salary?

But seriously, the most loyal pet I ever had was a black tom cat.
He was a stray...one of the many my mother took in.

He was fantastic and didn't appear to follow me anywhere and yet somehow he was always there.

He was more like a mate than a pet. This was 30 years ago...I still miss him.

I would think Dog. They always have energy when your in the dumps. They follow orders pretty well (after you teach them) and seem to me to be the most loal pet. Hope this helps.

Simon

P.S. - If you wouldn't mind answering my pet question, it's the one titled, "Do pets REALLY love us, or are they using us just to get food?"

Any animal will be a good companion so long as you give it enough love and cuddles. Cat's are good but can be fickle as they will leave if they get more attention elsewhere. A dog is good and small breeds tend to be very loving and like to sit on your lap, west highland terriers or something similar.
