Something is wrong with my knee. My mother has taken me to the doctor and the doctor doesn't know and shrugs it off as growing pains, but I've had growing pains and they felt nothing like this, also, I haven't grown for the past two years. And it only hurts in my right knee...does anyone know why?? I do not rememeber hurting it, and I can't stand taking meds, they make me puke and shake, I also feel like bugs are crawling all over my body!! And I feel lightheaded. Does anyone know why my knee is doing this?? My mother has gotten many opinions on it and they all don't know!! They all tell my mom that they aren't sure but they think it's growing pains!! I have had these pains for almost a year now an my other leg is starting to hurt b/c i'm putting more weight on it. Why is my knee doing this!?

You need to convince your Dr. to send you to a specialist. Growing pains shouldn't be that intense, and they should come and go periodically. Its important to fix this soon, as you say your other leg is starting to hurt. This will affect your hips and spine as well. Has anyone taken XRays? They absolutely should. And/or an ultrasound of the knee area. Do your ankles or knees kind of turn in toward each other when you walk? Or the opposite, do they bow? If so, corrective orthotic inserts in your shoes may help. Try a chiropractor or foot specialist. If no one has even done testing tho......they should NOT be writing it off as growing pains. You have to stick up for yourself with Dr's and not let them send you away when your gut tells you something is wrong.

There is no such thing as growing pains.. if you have pain, it is the direct result of a problem than can be taken care of. It is there for an indication that there is something wrong. Regarding the knee, if the cartilage is not sitting properly, it can not only restrict the motion of the knee but also create a swelling of the joint and become quite painful.. If this is the problem in your case it can easily be manipulated back into proper position with a simple procedure. If you are unable to do it by yourself, perhaps you could see a doctor of Chiropractic and have it done for you.. He/she will show you how to take care of this yourself if it recurs.

I had something like this happen to me, it turned out to be a tight IT band that was pulling the knee cap the wrong way and causing inflamation under the knee cap. The only way to fix it is very intense stretches, massage, accupuncture, anything that will make that muscle release. But it takes a while and it hurts to get it released. Maybe could be this? If you push hard along the outside of your thigh does it feel real tender? Find the groove where the two muscles meet down the side of the leg. If you push up and down along that groove and it really hurts, that could be what it is.

I would say it is growing pains---just because you yourself havent grown any taller in a couple of years does not mean your bones, muscles and so aren't. You are not theonly thing that grows, You entire body grows and forms in many different ways until one of these days it all catches up.

Consult a good specialist and tell him the agony. Follow the suggestion of a doctor.

Baby now, are you dancing too much? I had the same thing happen to me, and finally found out that it was because I dance. Make the doc get you an MRI, and go from there... it really is nothing to play with.....
