I know one that likes women in their 50s and doesn't want women around his age because he feels they will cheat on him and that they are also snobby and wouldn't care for him.

Not anything extraordinary, especially if he's been hurt in the past but women his age. If he's happy, no big worries.

I'm not a guy and I'll be 22 in a week, but I'd say it's not a bad idea. I hate most woman in my age group, because the majority that I've met are snobby, immature, or flirt with any cute guy they spend more than 3 minutes with - regardless if they're married or already in a relationship. That's not saying all 20-something y.o. women are like that! I don't know about dating someone in their 50's though. It'd just be too much heartbreak for a long term relationship/marriage.

I am guessing he really thinks the females closer to his own age are too shallow and too into themselves.

Good for him if can find an older woman who he can be comfortable with. Many older women these days do not look their age and tend to present themselves with a more youthful attitude and don't kid yourselves... plenty of older women listen to the same music that a 22 yr old listens to.

Your friend sounds a little insecure to me and if a relationship with an older woman makes him feel more secure, who is getting hurt by it?

Somehow people don't seem to mind or comment as much when it's the other way around, older man - younger woman.

That's very peculiar, especially the reason why he won't date women his own age. There are lots of things that men can learn from older women (respect, history, etc), but it's not right for a man to date older women because he's paranoid about dating people his own age. It almost sounds as though he has an Oedipus complex.

hmmm.... sounds like he has a lot of pain from the past. I'm not sure what kind of 50-year old women would be interested in your insecure-type 22-year old, and wasn't aware that 50-year old women did "dates" in the same way a 22-year old might think of. I'm guessing that he might be quite obese and that he enjoys that sort of mama-fussing that some women go in for with chubby men.

I was like this too. I have always liked older women. But not because I thought younger women were snobby or wouldn't take care of me. I can take care of myself. I just liked older women because they didn't play as many games. A younger woman wants to test you all the time, to make you "work" for it. An older woman has been around and is through playing games. If she wants something, she says so. If she doesn't want to see a man anymore, she doesn't make excuses like "I have to wash my hair tonight" or "Gee I'm really tired, I'm going to stay in" and then you see her at a nightclub. An older woman will just flat out tell you, "you know, this isn't working out for me." The end.

But if this guy wants someone to take care of him, tell him to move back home with his mommy. She's an older woman too, right?

Sounds like he must have been tramatized by a past relationship. And he feels he can only find security in older women, theres nothing too wrong with that, it may be difficult for him to start a family and do the " all american " thing, but if thats not what he wants then more power to him!

Umm.. I think that he shouldn't be so judging of women his age because there are some nice women out there and that also women in theirn 50s will retire earlier and you'll end up having to be the only on with a job supporting yourselves and if you have any, your children.

Maybe he has a fear of commitment and marriage and with an older woman the possibility of that happening us much less than with a younger woman...he is still young and may find a woman closer to his age eventually. Until then if that is what he wants to do then that is what he wants to do.

I say to each his own. If he wants to date people 30 years older who have absolutely nothing in common with him, then tell him to go ahead. But before doing that, why not go for someone older, but not THAT old? That's like dating one of your mom's/dad's friends if you know what I mean! How silly!

How weird!
