-Open itune
-Attach ipod
-Click the litle black triangle next to the ipod icon in the left panel
-It will open you ipod just like your library
-From here just click once or highlight the songs you want to delete and hit delete.

Hope my explaination was simple, feel free to email me if it isnt.
Try the help guide its great, in thehelp menu of itunes.

So you fell right into the trap of iTunes. An iPod can only sync with one iTunes and in your case, the iTunes is set to your friend's computer. To use your iTunes the only way is to sadly... yes, delete all the songs. The people at Apple did this so you can't share music. Now, when you plug your iPod in a message should come up that says the iPod can't be used with your iTunes. It should ask you if you want to delete all the songs and reset the iPod. Click yes. If the message does not come up, do an iPod system restore to restore to its factory settings. Hope that helps...

You arent even able to put them on your itunes, when you plug up your nano...it will ask if you if you want to clear the nano and sync it to your own library. You cant share music that way. Just click yes and it will delete everything thats on the ipod. Unfortunately, you will not be able to save any of the music. The best thing to do is have your friend put all the music that you want on a cd so you can upload it from there. You cant upload it from your ipod. Good luck

When you plug it into your computer something should come up thar says "would you like to make this the defaut for the ipod" click yes, If that doesn't show up than in itunes when the ipod is connected go to sync ipod.

If that still doesn't help try doing a restore

wait, you are saying you can see/play songs on your ipod that you got from a friend's computer and when you plug your ipod into your computer you can't see them? that sounds hard to believe...are you looking at your library or the ipod itself? you need to look at your ipod once you plug it into the computer and manage your songs from there...

Just sync it. It will remove the songs from the other library and add the ones from yours.
