... what is real and what is not? I think I've been listening to too much John Mayer. At first, do we actually love the person, or the thought of the person? Or is the person really secondary, and it's just the idea of potential? What do you think?

[Who do you love? Me, or the thought of me?... from John Mayer's "I Don't Trust Myself"]

I think it depends on the person and I think it all comes down to taking some time to reevaluate your relationship with the other person. I fell out of love with my ex-husband because I realized that he only loved the thought of me. And I should have known because he was always trying to change me and to get me to do things that he wanted me to do. It's like he really didn't even know who I was. So I left him (woohoo!!). By the way, John Mayer's Continuum...GREAT album.

I think it all depends because sometimes you fall in love with love itself, you know? sometimes you get caught up in the rush of being in love: first kisses, dates, etc. But sometimes, if it really is true, then you will fall in love with the person. I fell in love with my wife. I love her. When I was younger and dating, I used to be in love with the idea of them. You know, somebody to kiss, to call my girlfriend.
