Why did Italy win the World Cup?

Because they know how to pull it off like they did in 1982 in Spain where they beat Argentina(the defending champs from 1978) and Brazil (the absolute favorites) and Germany (who were actually favored in the final) . In 2006 , all 23 players of the Italian team played for Italian clubs (the only team out of the 32) and 10 different players scored ( a world cup record) ; also they have always played brilliant defence : Dino Zoff didn't give up a goal in international play (still a record after over 32 years!!!) for I think 1038 minutes until 1974 (another record) , Walter Zenga didn't give up a goal until the second half of the semi finals in 1990 (still a record also) , and in 2006 Italy gave up only 2 goals : an own goal (had it not had happened they would have broken their own record of not giving up a goal in world cup matches from 1990 !!!) and a penalty shot ; Italian defense is simply amazing ( even in 1994 WC final against heavily favored Brazilians they did not give up a goal for 120 minutes !!!), and it is combined with unbelievabley quick counter attacks with defenders appearing in the opposing half . These are just facts , they have won it 4 times, finished 2nd twice, 3rd once, 4th once which means they have made it to the semifinals 8 times !!! compare this to the pompous English team which has just won it once on their own soil and finished 4 th once . They deserved to win it this year (beating the power house germany on their own soil- Italy has played Germany 5 times in the WC and has never lost !!!). And I am not Italian !!!!!!!!

Because the real best team in the world (GERMANY), could'nt finish a ball during their last games. So happy that they got thrid at least. Even thought USA sucked, Italy had the refs on their side that game and all of the rest. Germany was the real winner here.GEHEN Sie DEUTSCHLAND

no offense but italy seemed to have the oddest luck: first with the draw, then in the playoffs. it was only germany who gave them a tough fight but they survived that with the luckiest goals. they faced france for the championship and with its strong, balanced game, france were the odds on favorite. but italy got the breaks, forced a shootout, and the usually dependable trezeguet had to miss. even zz's encounter with matterazi seemed fated, oddly enough. he was probably meant to leave that way so ppl will never forget the great zidane....so anyway, why did italy win. i really don't know, maybe it's destiny.

ITALY was the best team and they proved that they will always be the best. They will do it again in 2010 and in 2014. They will dominate the world from now on and they show Brasil, France, Germany, or even Argentina that there is only one powerhouse in the world and that's Italy.

Italy win the world cup because they play aganist small & weak teams as america & ghana & czech republic ( this teams may be strong but they play very bad in this world cup ) . then Italy played against australia then against ukranie but another teams played against strong teams in the quarter final as france against Brazil & Portugal against England & Argentinia against Germany but italy have agood coach and they also play well
