Eventually 5 to 10 years down the road I think there will be but it will be a huge hassle. The thing is the four major bowls Rose, Sugar, Cotton and Orange all want the top teams and ideally the national championship. The thing is each wants their turn at the national championship game or to butt the other guys out completely. The easiest thing would be to take the top four teams and have two play in say the Orange bowl and the other two play in perhaps the Cotton Bowl. The winners of those two "Bowls" would play in the Sugar or Rose bowl for the national championship. Each year they would rotate and take turns hosting the national championship. But as you can see that would leave one of the big boys out each year so odds are it would be an eight team playoff which means adding others "Bowls" like The Fiesta, Gator, Peach etc. That would also tick the four Big Bowls off as those other bowls have never hosted national championship games, but times change. Everyone in college football and their fans would love a playoff system but it's the four major bowls that don't want it. What needs to happen is a few years of split vote national champions or more than one unbeaten team to show the BCS is actually BS. If that happens it could happen sooner than later.

I believe every college division besides 1-A has a playoff system.

I know 1-AA does, and I'm pretty sure II-A and so forth have playoff systems in place as well.

I doubt it but it could be easily designed with the same amount of post season bowl games as we have now with an awesome finish... it just doesnt make since to have two undefeated teams left standing and decide who is best by a vote.... settle it on the field !!! does any other league not have a playoff?

I hope not. It's nice to have one sport left where the regular season actually means something. Once there's a playoff, some mediocre team is bound to get hot one year, kind of like what happened with St. Louis in baseball.

I would hope so. That seems to be the fairest system. Most schools like the bowl games to generate income, so probably not.

you know i really think that there will be a push in the near future. and when i say push i mean like a group of coaches, athletic directors and players arguing, not just on team complaining. but i really think its only a matter of time before there is a legitimate arguement for one.

i think there should be.... but i highly doubt there is going to be one.

the way they've got it designed now seems to be working, and i doubt they have any intentions of changing it any time soon
