Most detectors beep when the battery is running low. Try putting in a new one, see if it stops.

Most home smoke detectors that run on batteries have a low battery detection built into them. They beep every 5-10 minutes with a short chirp to let you know there is a problem and that you need to change the battery or fix the issue it is complaining about.
If this is a smoke detector that needs just a battery, replace the battery and wait and see if it still chirps at you. If this is both AC and battery powered, it could be that the built-in battery that the AC power charges was not fully charged, and the chirping every five minutes should go away in an hour or two. Or it could mean that the AC power is not hooked up right.
Finally, if the AC power is working and there is no other battery power for that unit, it may have a problem with it. Check the sheet of paper or manual that came with it to see what the chirp means.

If the smoke detector is beeping, that means either the battery is no good or the electric hook up isn't correct. My smoke detectors beep for those two reasons. Not sure about the Michigan's codes.

Maybe you could take it to the place you bought it and have it repaired or just maybe look around at wires in the smoke detectors and if anything looks different then jiggle the wires around.Maybe if you tried Michigan codes for detectors it might work.

It can be that the smoke detector is running on low battery, check to make sure there is not a battery in there.

in my experience, a beeping smoke detector needs new batteries. the detectors may be new, but perhaps the batteries are old. you might want to check that out.

Put in new batteries. The detector might be new to you but how long did it sit on a shelf in a warehouse?

You said they they are new. My bet is that batteries were not put in when they were installed. They are operating on the 115 volts an warning you of low or no battery back up. Have fun on the ladder.
