During the last 60 years there have been so many nuclear tests that it averages out to about one every 10 days or so.
While a war in the mideast is likely, a nuclear war in the mideast is has been less likely. However, if Iran gets nuclear weapons it is highly likely that they will use them. If they use them it will be against Israel. Israel will have no choice but to end it with additional nuclear weapons and since Israel has between 300 and 600 nuclear arms Israel will win, if that can be called winning.
If that begins it is likely a nuclear war will begin between Pacistan and India. Of course Korea will sell whatever they can to terrorists.
Leave it to the west and there won't be a war, but starting it will not be up to the West.

Wow, you're cheerful. I think Bush & Blair have really upset you enough to make you think they'll incite a nuclear explosion that swallows the world up. There are enough reports about the end of the world, without this gloomy forecast.

Oh, definetely. And the Loch Ness Monster will devour the kilts, making them an extinct species. Better buckle up; it's gonna be one heck of a year... if we survive.

If it gets bad the USA will use the neutron bomb which simply kills people and leaves little residue. We are under greater threat from biological weapons and a pandemic such as bird flu.

Usually mass death is caused by something that is natural and unexpected. Like earthquakes, tsunami's, hurricanes, tornado's. Its probably more likely that an asteroid hits the earth and causes mass death than for a man made disaster.
