250 Million Christians Will Be Persecuted in 2007

250 million Christians worldwide will face persecution in 2007, simply for following Jesus Christ, according to persecution watchdog, Release International. In particular it was found that persecution is growing the fastest in the Muslim world.

Release has found that most persecution takes place in four distinct ‘zones’: those of Islam, Communism, Hinduism and Buddhism. But persecution is growing fastest of all in the Muslim world.

Governments in even moderate Muslim countries often fail to safeguard the rights of their Christian minorities, explains RI. Abuses suffered by Christians include kidnapping, forced conversion, imprisonment, church destruction, torture, rape and execution.

One of the world’s worst abusers of religious freedom is Saudi Arabia, guardian of Islam’s holiest sites Mecca and Medina. Saudi Arabia forbids all other religions. A Muslim found ‘guilty’ of converting to Christianity could face the death...

Sean: When the persecution is religious-based, I think dividing it along religious lines is merrited.

Don't dismiss the info simply because you don't like the implications.

Oh Dear!

Christians complaining about persecution, Perhaps it's time to reflect on the persecution that Christians have inflicted on other people for the last 2,000 years. Not only on other other religions but on slightly different versions of Christianity too.

As Jesus said 'what you sow then so shall you reap'.

Chritians are persecuted in muslim countries and some communist countries. I think those figures may be an exageration though. However here in the United States it is usually the christians doing the persecuting of non christians expecially pagans. I will fight to make sure all people Christian and muslim and any other religion has the right to beleive the way they feel is right for them, but I will also fight to have the same rights as Christians. Religious freedom should be just that freedom to be the religion you think is best even if it is pagan.

You are correct and few people appreciate that Iraq has 20% Christian, Lebanon 50% Christian, Syria 15% etc.
This acquiescence was not always the case, but we have so many low grade politicians who acquiesce in the face of such as the Saudis and take the dollar.
Oil & wealth is an amazing cure for the concience of western politicians who claim to be Christian.

I think more humans are persecuted worldwide than Christians. I also think people are too focused on the religious divides to realize that we are killing each other at an alarming rate.

Think about the people who will be persecuted this year world wide just because of the color of their skin or the class they were born into. Even worst imagine all the child who will die in war ridden nations regardless of their religion.

That makes sense that Christians are more persecuted in non-Christian zones. I would assume all religions are more persecuted where they are the minority.

To answer your question, yes, I do think Christians are persecuted around the world. But I don't think any more then any other religion.

Christians are bullied in muslim led countries, and persecuted in Britain, which always punishes the majority.

Only the true followers are.

They know who they are and living with the worldly things around them everyday is already a prosecution on their faith. No need for the drastic things to happen. The subtle it is the more they keep watch of their faith.
