I wanted to e-mail an .mpeg that is 47 MB. How can I get it to around 10 MB so that it is small enough to be e-mailed?

Mpeg format is already compressed. To get the level of compression you want, you may have to degrade the quality or resolution of the video. I imagine you can do this with video editing software.

If you have web space available (like through your Internet service provider), you could put it on the web and email everyone a link. Or if you're not sending it to too many people, you may just want to burn it onto CDs and send them in the mail.

You may be able to import it in Windows Movie Maker (win xp obviously) and then you can export as a .wmv, which can be compressed heavily without quality loss.
