Take a tip from Jerry Seinfeld: Tell them you are busy, and ask for THEIR home phone number so you can call them back later.

A fun way? Oh my goodness - you can have soooo much fun with this one and you don't even have to be funny! (but you will laugh when you're done :{)
It also depends on how much time you have- They have a copy to read when they call - they will ask you questions - do not EVER commit, unless you really want the product, but after they finish - ask them if they could start from the beginning because you didn't have your hearing aide in. #2 - Keep saying "what did you say?" #3 - Tell them you don't understand - ask them to wait while you get help - put the phone down - go do a chore - pick up the phone when you pass by and say "hello? Hello? - wait - I be right back - #4 - pretend your talking to someone and have a bizarre conversation about nose buggers, diarrhea, what to eat to prevent diarrhea, ask if they threw up? did you make it to the toilet? start making gaging sounds - see how long you can do it with a straight face - You must get the idea by now . . . . . have fun - be creative!

Things like that won't get them to leave you alone, it's not the individual's choice to call you, it's the company they work for. The absolute best way to end a call with a telemarketer is to say "No thank you, please take me off of your list" and hang up. If you harass them they'll probably leave you on because you were rude to them, and then someone else will call later. Usually these are good people who are trying to make a living. Telemarketing is one of the only jobs you can get that pays more than minimum wage in West Virginia and other poor areas, so college students and poor parents usually do it for as long as their sanity allows.

Keep them on the phone as long as you can.
My 2 favorites are
1) Sound tired and exasperated, and tell them how glad you are that they called, you REALLY need someone to talk to. Then start rambling on and on about how your car ran out of gas, and you couldn't find your phone to call for help, McDonalds stopped serving breakfast 5 minutes early and you missed it, etc. Just keep going until they hang up. If they start talking about their offer, just say "oh wait, first you gotta hear this!" then continue "you'll never believe what my dog did today!!"
2) act totally interested in their offer. ask a lot of questions but don't let them transfer you. You're targeting one sales rep, and the idea is to waste as much of their time as you can. Just like they do yours! Sound fascinated about their offer, and make lots of small talk if you can. "A cell phone offer? I had a cell phone once! It was really cool. It had a color screen and lots of buttons...." Keep them going and going until you can't take it anymore or get bored, then before they hang up or transfer you, tell them "I'm sorry, I'm no longer interested. Please put me on your Do Not Call list. Good Day.

Now you can put yourself on the do not call list, but what I used to do in the past was to ask them to hold and put the phone down.
If I were especially ornery that day, I'd ask them everything about the product - and I mean EVERYTHING. I'd play dumb and have them repeat things to me over and over, then at the end, I'd change my mind and hang up.

I tell them that I am glad they called, and if they would just give me their name and address that I would send them a kit absolutely freed, no obligation.
When they continue, I say "No you don't understand I want to offer you this kit absolutely free ... you'll love it, your family will love it. What did you say your name and address was?" etc.

get on a " do not call list" when they call note their name & number (whenver possible cause sometimes they don't have either info) place on this list to report them. from there they will be notified. I usually hang up on them.
