I don't know, but it seems like they should give you a discount, since, really, chicken is cheaper than beef. I know this since I work @ a grocery store. To be exact, chicken costs $0.69 a pound, while hamburger costs $2.39. It probably is a "hassle" to change an order so they rip you off. They might have to actually work and take it off of the bone. Even the breast portion is cheaper than burger, costing only $1.39 per pound.

Ground beef in the grade they serve it at taco bell, is much cheaper than grilled chicken, especially since taco bell switched to using lower fat chicken. The steak items are more expensive than the chicken.

Chicken is more expensive then beef. Think about it. A Cow is like 20 times larger then a chicken.

the chicken is more expensive because it is real meat... did you know that they do not use actual beef the way we know ground beef to be. a friend of mine worked at taco bell and said that the beef they use comes in a powder form. just add water. yum, who wants taco bell? no one? didn't think so.

well at taco bell they use grade D beef which is also used for dog food. so think about it, their chicken is probably better so they charge more. in reality one taco should only cost .50 cents not even. theyre just looking for a way to make a quick easy buck!

White chicken meat (breast meat) costs more pound for pound than hamburger or flank steak in taco meals. Imagine how many chickens you would have to kill and pluck to equal one large cow.

Also, for the reason you mentioned...beef is more popular and so they get to buy more of it and they get better deals because they bought more.

They get the beef wat cheaper because it's a cheaper grade. Compare the ground beef and the chicken breast at your grocer, and the chicken tends to be cheaper. But every Taco Bell is different, because they are Franchise owned.

Because chicken cost them more money. Ground beef is cheap and mostly unhealthy.

It's not steak.... it's some inferior grade ground beef. Think cheap hamburger.
