When I was a child, I used to get just in that place just before sleep, the place where you can still hear the sounds in the room, right before you drift off, I would get there and then It would feel like someone had kicked the end of my bed really hard. I was always to afraid to do anything I would pull my blankets slowly up over my head and squeeze my eyes shut and tell myself there are no monsters. Then I have no memory of anything anymore. Not like it is when you fall asleep, but just total nothingness. At first I thought it was just my body settling down and it was my imagination, But it happend every night from when I was eight until I was fourteen and we moved.

The funny thing is my mother moved back into that house and my husband and I went and spent the night, weeks later I heard him describing the same thing to my 13 year old son about the bed jolting, when I asked him why he hadn't told me, he said it just never occured to him.

The house, or room is probably haunted! Did you ever check the history of the house, or the town the house was in. There are teams of ghost chasers that will come our for free and capture the image on film. This happened in my town, at the local bar. It's called the South Lyon Hotel, It was built on top of an old cemetary, bodies where moved to a new location. The ghost was captured on the equipment and still hangs out at the resteraunt/bar.

I'm with the guy who says your room may be haunted. A few years ago when I lived in an apartment in Mississippi, I got the strange sensation that someone was in bed with me. I lived alone and no one was physically there. It seemed to get on top of me and I felt like I was being held down. That was horrible, the only way to make it stop was praying over and over until I fell asleep, after that happened a few times, I decided to sleep in the living room. Good Luck.

Some people say that experence is your astal self being pulled back into your body. I have had the same sensations. When your body is in that place your astal self or spirit leaves the body something can make it quickly return that is the bump you feel. Also in rem sleep the body can be subjected to sensations that trigger a reflex action a sound or such. hope this helps

I'm not sure its the same experience, but I always had the sensation of drifting off, and feeling as light as a feather. It was as if I was floating in my bed, then suddenly the bed would tip on its side and I would grab the sides for fear I was falling.

I've felt the sensation of someone lying on my bed next to me, yet no one would be there. Just a few nights ago I would hear this coarse breathing (held my breath and still heard it) No matter where we live I'm always feeling these things. I think it's neat and perhaps a gift.

I've had that happen a few times, I don't know what the medical term for it is - but I know that when I'm about to drift off everything seems amplified, so noises and other things seem to stand out more and jolt me awake at times.

I feel like I'm floating, and then I feel like I'm sinking down into the bed, like it's swallowing me, folding over top of me.
I guess everybody has his/her own sensation of "falling" asleep.
But it's weird somebody else felt the same thing in the same room, I'll grant you that.

like falling down a step just as you are about to fall to sleep? yes - it makes you jump awake again - i don't think that it is spiritual i think there is some sort of medical explanation for it - some sleep doctor would know..........ask one!
