I put a jacket up for sale on ebay- high end brand, retails for $400, never been worn. I set the starting price at $100 and no one has bid. I have 10 people watching it and have had lots of questions about it. Should I lower the starting bid price or wait? There are four days left in the auction.

Yes, you probably should have put a lower bid. Low bids encourage people to start bidding, and once your item has a few bidders, others are more likely to bid even more.

Still, you have to wait until the auction is over to know for sure. Many bidders wait until the last minute.

I've been selling for 7 years-mainly high end clothing. I always start really low however. People want a bargain. They truly want something for nothing. If you start low, you will be amazed at how may people bid on it in the hope that it will end up at a low price. Most often, it ends up being solf for an even higher price then what you would have started it at anyway.

Even if you have 10 watchers, I have had several times when they did not even bid. So, don't count on that.

If you really want to sell it, I'd suggest starting lower. I have sold leather jackets that I paid $400+ but they really only sold for about $50.00. Unless you have a Chanel, Prada, Escada, St. John's Knit, etc. (or some other very high-end designer) people just don't want to pay what its worth.

Lastly, Even though it may have hurt at the time to sell it for less than what I had expected, eventually I never even missed it anyway. Good luck to you!

I have done a lot on ebay, both buying and selling. Leave it alone. Most experienced ebayer's will not bid until the last minutes. Many use auction stealer programs. If the auction ends without a sale then you can relist for free and lower the starting bid then. For now, let the auction run it's couse. :)

I have an ebay account...100% feedback (only 59 feedbacks though). I ALWAYS start my auctions at $.99. People will always fight back and fourth for the goods and raise the price. People like low prices to start with compared to higher prices. Also, the $.99 starting price keeps your listing fees lower than the $100 does.

I would leave it alone!! Alot of people will not bid until closer the the end of the action!! They try to sneak thier bid in!! I have sold several things on Ebay and never change my starting bid!! When it gets down to the last hour you will see the bids coming in!!

Good Luck

Always start at a lower price, items with many bids is popular and will attract more bidders.

If I was you I would wait and see what those 10 watchers will do. I use ebay a lot and have sold tons of stuff on there. If nothing happens with about 2 days lower a very little bit.

wait-sometimes people wait till it's closer to the end of the auction. and if ten people are watching, it should go up eventually.
